The LINK Table and Chair Set is an item of furniture that fulfils many functions. As the name suggests, the LINK modules can be linked together in different ways, allowing you to create several different formations of the table and bench set. In this way, LINK helps inspire people to meet and interact in public areas.
LINK was originally designed by AART Designers for educational institutions in Southern Jutland. The idea behind LINK was to draw the learning environment out of the classroom into the open air and create new and inspiring frameworks for the teaching.
LINK provided both students and teachers with a flexible and functional learning environment, where the physical facilities can be used to introduce variety to the working and teaching methods. One in which togetherness is more important than anything else.
Both in design and shape, LINK is an elegant and exciting example of urban furniture that offers the users many options. Do you want to sit together or apart? Face to face or back to back? Depending on how you assemble your LINK Table and Chair Set, you can create your own unique space within an urban environment.
The flexibility of LINK in use is matched by the simplicity of the construction itself. One module consists of two frames of flattened steel and ten slats in various sizes.
The slats are made of oil-treated, FSC®-certified mahogany, which is virtually maintenance-free. You can either treat the mahogany with oil again or leave the mahogany slats untreated, so they acquire an attractive, grey patina.
The flattened steel is hot-dip galvanised, and that means the LINK Table and Bench Set has a very long lifetime. In addition, hot-dip galvanisation means the steel won’t rust, but will retain its attractive slightly raw look.
A single item of furniture that can be assembled with others to provide a larger unit. And which can fulfil a number of different functions, whether it is used alone or in combination with other items. That is the whole concept behind LINK, that it adapts to any public space in which it is placed.
There, it will encourage people to get together with others – or enjoy a few quiet moments on their own.
