Christianshavns Gymnasium named ‘BEDST’ in ARKITEKTEN magazine

“Design that promotes democracy and social interaction,” writes ARKITEKTEN with regard to the landscape architecture of the schoolyard at Christianshavns Gymnasium. The circular bench in the schoolyard has been designed by BOGL and was named ‘BEDST’ (Best urban design) in ARKITEKTEN magazine 01 2018.

New, modern meeting place for the 700 students at Christianshavns Gymnasium.

With a focus on creating inviting seating areas, BOGL has designed a simple and attractive outdoor space that can be used both by numerous small groups on an everyday basis and for large gatherings for translocation, for example.

All the seating comes with power sockets, so digital devices can be charged. The staircase screens off the bicycle parking area, with over 150 spaces, and also leads up to a pleasant roof terrace overlooking the green roof areas of the bicycle shelter and with views of the surrounding buildings and church. The circular bench also serves as a basin for collecting rainwater in the event of a downpour.
