Design MOVE ARKITEKTUR
MICROHAVEN is a raised bed specially developed for housing associations. Micro gardens create scope for individuality in the community, while enriching communal areas with diversity. As an added benefit, they can help to promote and strengthen social life within the housing association – ‘dropping by’ one another’s gardens for a chat.
MOVE Arkitektur came up with the design for MICROHAVEN. Their efforts to create sustainable urban spaces focus strongly on making people the focal point. The basis for MOVE’s work is ‘place – people – project’ – and with MICROHAVEN they have succeeded in creating a project that brings people together in one place.
MICROHAVEN is made from solid 5 mm rolled steel.
It provides plenty of space for growing several different vegetables in the same planter. The raised bed is 220 cm in length and 1.5 m wide.
MICROHAVEN is designed to be embedded, and we recommend that it be set at a height of 450 mm from the ground to the top edge.
The MICROHAVEN raised bed is available in corten steel, which has a unique rusted look. The whole point of corten steel is that it should have a rusted look right from the start. And the rust layer helps to protect the steel against further corrosion.
MICROHAVEN is also available in plain, hot-dip galvanised steel. A galvanised surface is highly durable, and it will weather over time from a shiny grey to a matt finish in a mottled shade of grey.
If you want to give MICROHAVEN a more vibrant look, you can opt for powder coating instead. This is available in any RAL colour, and will help to coordinate the raised bed with the surrounding outdoor space.
Whether you opt for a galvanised or powder-coated finish, MICROHAVEN is always hot-dip galvanised. This gives the steel components extra protection against corrosion, ensuring a very long useful life for the product. And if a powder-coated surface gets damaged, the steel surface is still protected against rust underneath.
