CSR rapport 2023 er klar

Improved sustainability in 2023 – new goals for 2024

The HITSA Group, covering HITSA and Lampas, achieved positive results for people and the environment in 2023. However, there is still much work to do in terms of sustainability for the future, as shown by this year’s CSR report.

In environmental terms, further progress was made in 2023. HITSA reduced its gas, electricity, petrol and diesel consumption, and CO2 emissions decreased again, with emissions for the group in 2023 10% lower than in 2022.

With regard to social sustainability, it was a quieter year, in which we reviewed our goals. However, we achieved them, and HITSA’s goals for social inclusion now seem to be at a realistic level.

“I am very pleased with our results for the year, and I also believe we can achieve further reductions in the future. We continue to work ambitiously to take responsibility for our impact on people and the environment,” says Henrik Andersen, CEO of HITSA.

“Looking back, we have succeeded in delivering results several years in a row because we worked out a strategy back in 2019 and allocated resources to implement it. Our ISO 14001 certification in 2022 gave us a good management system for driving things forward. These are factors that have been crucial to us achieving results,” he says.

CO2 remains high on the agenda

For the future, the HITSA Group will work on further reducing CO2 emissions, energy consumption and waste and improving social sustainability, in the words of Sustainability Officer Josephine Husted Jespersen.

“We are expanding our CO2 accounts to include Scope 3 and we are under way with life cycle assessments for selected products for HITSA and Lampas. This will provide data and knowledge for further initiatives. For example, we can discuss materials with our suppliers, we can ensure less wastage when designing products, and many other things,” she says.

“In 2024, we will launch a project to tackle wood waste. For this, we will work together across the company – carpentry, construction and supply chain – to analyse causes and come up with solutions. It is sure to be an interesting project,” says Josephine.

Josephine is also looking forward to working with the rest of the CROWD Group, to which HITSA belongs, on reducing CO2 emissions using SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative).
