Create social outdoor seating with the FLOW rocking bench

You can now provide an outdoor spot that encourages conversation and interaction with this unique piece of urban furniture. We are pleased to launch FLOW, an attractive circular bench with a gentle rocking function that encourages social interaction.

FLOW has been designed by Anne Malmmose and was developed in collaboration with HITSA.

“The idea of FLOW is to bring people together through a shared, playful experience. Its circular shape creates a focal point, while the movement inspires conversation and connection. You smile and interact with one another as a result of the shared motion,” says Anne.

FLOW can seat 4-6 adults and is ideal for parks, urban spaces, educational institutions and more. FLOW can be used for hanging out during breaks, but also for group work.

“It’s really great for instances where people have just met one another. If you’ve just started at a new school or a training course, sitting together in FLOW seating with its rocking function will give you a little nudge to interact more. You get to know one another a little better as you rock together,” says Anne.

Sociable seating with a focus on sustainability

Henrik Andersen, CEO of HITSA, sees the FLOW bench as a unique concept.

“It’s an intriguing piece of furniture because the social aspect is built in. You sit in FLOW specifically to be sociable, and you basically can’t help interacting when using it. At the same time, it’s sculptural and the playful aspect is immediately obvious,” he says.

FLOW is a product designed with both social and environmental sustainability in mind. The choice of materials ensures a very long useful life outdoors. FLOW has been designed to facilitate disassembly, so components can be repaired separately, and sorted into fractions once FLOW reaches the end of its useful life.

FLOW is made from hot-dip galvanised, powder-coated steel with a seating surface of mahogany slats (FSC® certified). It can be supplied in any RAL colour.
