The new KLIPS bicycle bollard has been designed by Aarhus-based VE2, designers of a number of existing HITSA urban furniture products. Drawing inspiration from a paper clip, VE2 has created a bicycle bollard that combines simplicity and functionality. A length of bar steel shaped into an X that adds a sculptural touch to the urban landscape, with the lock bracket forming a natural part of its distinctive silhouette. It is easy to roll your bike into the bollard, which is suitable for multiple tyre thicknesses.
KLIPS is made from hot-dip galvanised steel and is also available with a powder coating in a selection of colours. Use it to design a bicycle parking facility with a unique, appealing and distinctive look.
KLIPS has been designed to score points in the DGNB sustainability certification. For instance, the lock bracket and the distance of 600 mm between bicycle spaces make life easier and more convenient for cyclists, so this counts as promoting cycling.
The bollard is easy to install. The installation base ensures the correct distance between spaces without measuring, whether the parking facility is straight, slanted, or circular. The base is then covered with gravel, grass or solid pavement. The installation depth is only 300 mm, so KLIPS is also ideal for city centres, etc. where digging deep is not possible.
VE2 exemplifies simple Nordic design with well-thought-out details. The studio’s previous designs for HITSA include TERÄS steel furniture and the FJORDPARK range of urban furniture and litter bins.
